How to Recognize Vitamin B 12 Deficiency and Why You Need to Your Health Depends on It

learn the causes of B-12

I am not a doctor, I only play one on TV...I wrote that not to be funny, but to really question some of the "Doctors" that we go see.  I know they are getting celebrity pay but shouldn't they know or at least be concerned about you and what is going on with you?

Here is a brief summary of why I am writing this: I have been to specialists and Doctors for the past 13 years with a "mystery" stomach condition.  I have been through every test you can imagine and let me tell you more times than needed.  I have had more blood taken from me than I think a person should ever have to make in a lifetime.  Every Doctor or Specialist wants to repeat the same tests as they feel they are more qualified than the Specialist before them.  Only they always come back with the same "unknown" results.  Although they always find something...they still do not know what it is.

And yet I am told..

  1. It is similar to xxx but it is not that...
  2. Not quite sure what it is...We should do some more testing
  3. Maybe it is just in your head... have you seen a "shrink"
  4. All of the symptoms do not relate with one another... You cannot have all of these things going on at the same time and if you do they are not linked together and have nothing to do with each other.

and the list goes on.  I was made to feel like a hypochondriac.

So after the prodding and the poking of 13 years I said forget it...I will just suffer through.

I found a local "country" doctor and started to she her...What a find for me.

Now of course I explained all my symptoms, the pain I deal with daily ...you know the same story I have repeated 8000 times in the past.  She of course wanted to take some more blood and we would see from there.  So let me tell you what my symptoms are:

  • Forgetfulness and foggy thinking
  • confusion
  • lack of Coordination and balance: clumsiness
  • Tremors
  • tingling in the extremities..numb hands etc
  • Muscle weakness and or pain
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Heart Palpitations
  • White spots on skin
  • Migraines
  • Itchy tongue
  • And the biggest: GASTROINTESTINAL PROBLEMS

I have virtually been a prisoner in my own home because of the last problem, pain so bad I can hardly move some days not to mention ever move from the bathroom.

So, a week goes by and I go back to the Doctor and I am told that I am way below and seriously lacking in vitamin B-12.

SO?  I didn't understand what the big deal was with that, that is until I got home and started the research.

Every symptom on my list above is related to a deficiency in vitamin B-12 and then some!

They never checked this because

  1. I am not anemic
  2. and I am not diabetic

So the conclusion would be not to bother reading the rest of the lab results as I couldn't possible have this problem.  What is the problem here!

Vitamin B-12 levels at the rock bottom lowest should not be under 108, Mine is a 83!

Here (along with those above) are things to look for when you are lacking vitamin B-12

  • Anemia - see also symptoms of anemia
  • Pernicious anemia
  • Certain brain disorders
  • Certain nerve disorders
  • Neurological symptoms
  • Loss of appetite
  • Pale lips
  • Brittle nails
  • Sore mouth
  • Pale eyelids
  • Peripheral neuropathy
  • Asymptomatic in mild cases
  • Large red blood cells
  • Low red blood cell count
  • Low level of hemoglobin
  • Gastrointestinal symptoms
  • Paresthesia
  • Jaundice
  • Swollen red tongue
  • Vitamin B12 deficiency
  • Enlarged spleen
  • Ataxia
  • Weakness
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea
  • Weight loss
  • Irritability
  • Lightheadedness
  • Tiredness
  • Headache
  • Early symptoms are mild
  • Shortness of breath after exercise
  • Pallor
  • Concentration problems
  • Sleeping problems
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Dizziness
  • Impaired cognitive ability
  • Cold skin
  • Impaired memory
  • Depression
  •

I urge anyone who has these symptoms with 3 or more to get checked out!  I started my B-12 injections today and already my tongue has stopped bothering me, and my hands feel a little more than they usually do.  Don't wait...it is a simple blood test, ask specifically for this.

I am not sure 100% that this will take care of my "mystery" stomach problem, but I know the rest of the problems it will and I believe it will eliminate most of the pain I have in my stomach.

So I hope this will save someone else from years of pain...Get checked.  I never knew a Vitamin could make such an impact.
